At the annual Tuen Ng festival, over 30,000 people come to Hong Kong for the Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships. Dragon boats are long pirogues powered by two rows of nine rowers. The race was launched at the end of the 1960s and since then has grown in popularity to an extent that teams now come from London, Venice, etc.). In Hong Kong, Tuen Ng is a bank holiday but nevertheless, at 6 in the morning, the streets are busy as people head off for the race to watch the numerous competitors (over 200 teams).
60 volunteer rowers from Societe Generale Hong Kong took part in the race this year. For the first time, a womens team - SG Angels - was on the starting line. With their tee-shirts in the Group's colours and a dragon on the back, and their painted faces, the Angels were popular with photographers. Two mens teams also took part – the SG Devils and the SG diables. Both teams' faces were painted red and black, representing the Group's logo.

The race was a great success with both mens teams reaching the final (Gold Cup) and finishing in the top 10 of their category. In addition the event was very positive in terms of Societe Generale's local visibility.
Throughout the day, all the Societe Generale participants wore their colours with pride and commitment, in an extraordinary atmosphere that proved that nothing is as strong as team spirit!
