Seven-a-side rugby
Société Générale has been supporting the promotion of seven-a-side rugby since 2001.
Eight years ago, Société Générale worked with the French rugby federation (FFR) to launch an extensive programme to promote a form of rugby which is spectacular, accessible, easy to understand and which attracts a young and also female public. Rugby union and rugby sevens share the same values and as such complement each other, can be played together and develop alongside each other.
In 2001, Société Générale helped create the French under 17s sevens championship. In 2008, the Group went another step further with the sponsorhip of the "Espoirs Pro Seven" championship, reserved for professional clubs and joined in 2009 by six clubs from the Fédérale 1 league and womens' teams.
Last but not least, Société Générale is also partner of the French sevens team which it hopes to follow to Rio in 2016, when seven-a-side will be played as an olympic sport!
